Regularly monitoring your pet's health is essential, as signs of illness may not always be visible.
Your cat’s health exam isn’t complete without blood testing. Blood testing can detect illnesses that cannot be discovered on a physical exam.
Many diseases such as kidney, thyroid, pancreatic and heart disease, are diagnosed with blood testing. Results are kept in your cat’s medical records and we are able to trend changes early which leads to treatment plans and management of the disease allowing a longer and healthier life for your cat. Heartworm and Tick-borne disease screening are available, allowing us to respond quickly to these problems, and feline viruses such as feline Leukemia, FIP can all be detected by blood testing.
Blood testing can be done either in our hospital lab, or we send them out to the larger national labs for tests not available in our hospital. In-house testing can be done in a matter of hours, whereas testing done out of the house can take 1- 2 days.
Bringing your cat to the hospital in a safe and practical cage is step number one. We generally take your cat to our treatment area where our well-trained staff can quietly restrain your cat for a blood draw.
Blood testing is best done annually to keep a current baseline.
Our hospital is able to perform urinalysis for the detection of bladder infections, diabetes, bladder stones, and crystals.
